| The cross is
carried forward to the chancel, signaling the
presence of Christ in our sharing of Word and Sacrament. Followed
by those who will serve as worship leaders, this procession begins the
10:15 service of worship at St. Luke.
Appreciating the long-held traditions of the Lutheran Church, our worship each Sunday is both liturgical and inviting. Many liturgies are used, both old and new, making our worship varied and interesting while holding it firmly within the trusted expressions of the historical Church. Augmented with joyful singing and the beautiful sounds of the Cassavant pipe organ, we offer to God the best we have to give in our praise and thanksgiving. God has blessed us beyond measure - a fact we celebrate each time we gather in God's name. But our worship is not just focused on the adults. Each week a special "Children's Sermon," led by one member of a special team, is shared with the children as they gather at the foot of the chancel. Presented at their level of understanding, one of the day's scriptural texts is explained to these youngest members of the worshipping community. This traditional late morning worship service is the largest of the three worship events held each week at St. Luke. With a strong emphasis on preaching and scriptural interpretation, the service reaches its peak in the sharing of Holy Communion - God's own gift of grace bestowed on every worshiper. And don't forget the fellowship time that follows worship. Food, drink and conversation end the morning with another kind of celebration - the nurture and care that is expressed person-to-person. Everyone is welcomed and valued at St. Luke Lutheran Church. Our worship is not quite the same without you. |
