A SPOKEN LITURGY of quietness and contemplation fills the 8:00 a.m. hour on Sunday morning each week.
The world is still quiet as our worship shares the solitude. A brief liturgy, lessons and sermon are heard as members share with the pastors in leading the service.
At this service alone the congregation gathers around St. Luke's historic Communion Rail to receive the Sacrament. Elbow-to-elbow we kneel amidst the Native American artwork that adorns the chancel.
It is a time of remembering and meditation. Quietly as the words "this is Christ's body . . ." and "this is Christ's blood . . ." are spoken, we receive God's gifts of love.
Only at the end of the service is the silence broken by song. The Sending Hymn is sung as we joyfully return to the world. The day has begun. The
world has awakened from sleep. We are sent to serve.
Early Morning Worship occurs outdoors during the summer (Memorial Day week-end through Labor Day week-end). Gathering in the courtyard allows us to encounter God in prayer at the most beautiful time in a New Mexico summer day.
St. Luke's Courtyard is a wonderful location among flowers and trees a perfect setting for "Now the Feast and Celebration," one of the best loved Communion liturgies by Marty Haugen.
You hear the world come alive during your time of worship among God's faithful people.
The sky is bright, the birds are singing, and happy voices sing their praises to God. It is a wonderful summer experience that the people of St. Luke joyfully anticipate each year.
